Streetworks intelligence for UK highway authorities

The intelligence layer on top of Street Manager

Street Manager and your permit system move permits through a workflow. HighwayIQ works out what they mean together: which works clash, which break a Section 58 restriction, which are overrunning, and what that costs.

The problem

Coordinators see permits one at a time. The risk lies in how they combine.

Clashes are found late

Two promoters on the same street in the same week, or a closure on a bus corridor during another job. These clashes are often spotted only once the cones are out.

New surfaces get dug up

Section 58 restrictions protect resurfaced streets, but checking every permit against the register by hand doesn’t keep up with volume.

Overrun charges go unclaimed

S74 charges of up to £10,000 a day exist to keep works on time. Spotting overruns in spreadsheets means many are never charged.

The business case

Designed to pay for itself

A medium-sized authority can carry £150,000 to £500,000 a year in theoretical S74 overrun liability. If HighwayIQ helps recover even a third of the charges that are missed today, a Standard subscription from £12,000 a year is covered several times over.

Illustrative estimate only, not a customer result. Actual recovery depends on your authority’s size, road mix and enforcement policy. How S74 exposure is calculated.

Validated in live use

HighwayIQ is in daily use by the streetworks team at a county unitary authority. It runs alongside their existing permit system on live Street Manager data.
