S74 overrun alerts and exposure
Finds works running past their permitted end, calculates days over and the daily charge, and totals the authority’s overrun exposure.
The problem
Section 74 overrun charges are a statutory lever, but finding overruns means comparing end dates against works status by hand. Charges go unclaimed because nobody had time to spot them.
What it does
- Detects overruns as events arrive, using the real end of the permitted day rather than the start of it.
- Applies the daily rate for the road category and traffic sensitivity of the street.
- Excludes immediate works and the authority’s own works, which it cannot charge itself for.
- Alert queue with acknowledgement and notes, and an exposure dashboard by promoter and road category.
- A daily email digest of new overruns and Section 58 alerts is rolling out to coordinators.
How the numbers are worked out
Every figure HighwayIQ shows can be traced back to Street Manager permit references. The full definitions are published.
